Salary: CAD 160,000 - 220,000 / annual
Okta is building the identity security infrastructure for the AI era. The Okta Secures AI team is creating an Identity Security Fabric for agentic systems, addressing the emerging "Shadow AI" crisis by moving identity from reactive gatekeeper to unified control plane.
You will join the Agent Access Policies sub-team as a Staff Frontend Engineer, responsible for designing and building the user-facing systems that enable administrators to enforce least-privilege access policies for AI agents. This team owns the policies that replace broad connection-level agent access with granular, per-agent, per-resource, per-tool policy decisions evaluated at runtime on every request.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, design, and architect high-quality, scalable frontend software while enforcing best practices in architecture and processes
- Collaborate with product owners, UX, and engineering teams to scope and plan engineering efforts and dependencies
- Own code across the full lifecycle: design, implementation, test automation, delivery, and monitoring
- Contribute to new product and feature design while addressing technical debt
- Raise engineering excellence standards through improved methodologies, code quality, documentation, testing, and monitoring
- Conduct code reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement activities
- Partner with QA, Technical Support, Documentation, and UX teams
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge-sharing
You will work on elegant, scalable solutions for mission-critical enterprise software. The team values rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative approach to building next-generation identity infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building highly reliable, mission-critical software
- Extensive knowledge of JavaScript, with experience building Express and ReactJS applications
- Experience shipping robust services and user interfaces for production-grade applications in agile, product-oriented environments
- Strong experience with cross-browser compatibility and optimization techniques
- Strong understanding of debugging scalable, high-performance web applications built with reusability and componentization
- Experience working with cloud systems at scale
- Understanding of web security attacks and prevention
- Excellent grasp of software development and testing principles
- Excellent communication skills and strong product sense
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with identity, authorization, or IAM protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML)
- Experience contributing to "zero-to-one" startup-like teams
- Work with agent frameworks, AI-facing APIs, or developer toolchains in the LLM space
