You will join the core engineering group as a Staff Frontend Engineer focused on Design Systems and UI architecture. Your primary responsibility is building, scaling, and maintaining the foundational React-based component library that powers Verkada's enterprise applications. You'll serve as the critical bridge between the Design and Engineering teams, partnering with 8+ product teams to deliver a cohesive, accessible, and performant web experience. Key responsibilities include evolving the centralized design system and component library; translating design visions and Figma tokens into pixel-perfect, interactive web components; supporting and mentoring engineers across product teams on UI best practices; championing accessibility standards (WCAG) across all shared components; writing comprehensive automated tests and optimizing UI performance; maintaining excellent documentation via Storybook; and ensuring seamless integration with Verkada's microfrontend architecture. You'll need 4+ years of front-end web development experience with strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern styling solutions. A proven track record building or significantly contributing to design systems, component libraries, or UI frameworks is essential. You should have deep experience with Storybook and component-driven development, strong practical knowledge of web accessibility (ARIA, WCAG), and experience collaborating directly with designers. A degree in Computer Science, HCI, or similar technical/design field is preferred.
