CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Flight Software Engineer to lead the development of satellite flight software and mission data/operations systems. This role spans the full software development lifecycle—from concept through production—including architecture design, coding, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
You will own software designs across multiple stack levels: microcontrollers, low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), and user interfaces with emphasis on applications and data management. The role requires deep expertise in high-reliability software engineering, qualification practices, and testing methodologies suitable for space missions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing flight software for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms
- Developing mission data and operations systems
- Creating product roadmaps, block diagrams, and detailed technical designs
- Leading analysis, testing, and qualification efforts
- Providing in-orbit support and troubleshooting
- Presenting engineering design reviews to customers and executive leadership
- Contributing to proposal-writing and business development efforts
The ideal candidate brings development experience across the entire software stack, with particular strength in embedded systems, real-time software, and space-qualified systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will interface directly with customers and leadership. This is a hands-on, autonomous role in a dynamic, cross-functional environment focused on creating integrated hardware-software solutions that enable rapid customer integration.
Note: U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status required to comply with space technology export regulations.
