Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Production Realization Lab designs and manufactures the electromechanical infrastructure that enables flight testing and validation.
You will own the end-to-end design of specialized hardware for testing aircraft structural integrity and propulsion components. This is a blank-sheet engineering role where you translate high-level functional requirements into robust mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead aircraft subsystem test equipment development from concept through customer acceptance, managing scope, budgets, and aggressive timelines
• Partner cross-functionally with Electrical and Controls Engineering to define equipment architecture and integration strategies
• Execute advanced engineering analyses (DFMEA, tolerance stacks, FEA, CFD) to ensure designs meet safety and reliability standards
• Spearhead formal design reviews and oversee creation of comprehensive documentation, training manuals, and installation guides
• Provide technical oversight during equipment build, assembly, and commissioning; direct technicians and troubleshoot complex hardware issues
• Support vendor site visits, equipment installations, and final acceptance testing (up to 10% travel)
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred)
• 7+ years progressive experience in specialized test equipment or complex machine design
• Expert-level 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX) and GD&T expertise
• Demonstrated ability with FEA, CFD, and statistical tolerance analysis
• Extensive experience commissioning automated equipment, integrating DAQ systems and sensors
• Exceptional communication skills for executive presentations and cross-functional design reviews
• Self-starting mindset suited to fast-paced aerospace development
Bonus: experience with electric powertrain test equipment, NX/Teamcenter PLM ecosystems, or full-lifecycle custom automation projects.
