SonderMind is a mental health platform combining therapy, medication management, meditation, and mindfulness tools with digital infrastructure to help clinicians deliver high-quality care. As a Staff Engineer in the Revenue Cycle team, you will own end-to-end features across backend services, agentic AI frameworks, and frontend systems, working with minimal supervision on mission-critical, high-performance tools.
You'll design, build, and maintain scalable services using Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, and Python, creating RESTful and gRPC APIs that integrate with generative AI systems. Your responsibilities include optimizing MongoDB and PostgreSQL queries, collaborating with cross-functional product and design teams, and working with AI agents, MCP servers, and emerging AI-enabled frameworks. You'll identify and drive architectural improvements, mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pair programming, and serve as a technical lead for complex projects, balancing scope, risk, and quality.
Success milestones include shipping a backend feature within 30 days, leading cross-team API enhancements or proposing performance improvements by 60 days, and driving system-level architectural improvements or new deliverables by 90 days.
You bring 8+ years of experience building web services or full-stack applications with strong hands-on expertise in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python, or similar backends. You have deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and performance tuning, with proven ability to balance short-term delivery against long-term technical investments. You're comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where requirements evolve. Knowledge of AI/ML is desired; experience with LLMs or AI-driven toolchains (Langchain/Langgraph) is highly desirable. The company expects all team members to leverage modern AI tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, and GitHub Copilot as part of daily workflow.
