Adyen is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical evolution of its global observability platform. The role bridges high-scale telemetry infrastructure (managing thousands of hybrid bare-metal and Kubernetes environments) with developer-facing software pipelines processing billions of daily events, and observability experiences in alerting and visualization. Key responsibilities include architecting and executing the technical strategy for a unified, global observability platform; leading the architectural revamp of petabyte-scale search, logging, and metrics systems; designing APIs and integration protocols connecting the data foundation to autonomous AI agents for real-time diagnostics; deconstructing monolithic monitoring setups into isolated, high-availability regional architectures; collaborating on self-service developer tooling with GitOps-driven configuration models; providing high-level technical direction across the observability domain; and acting as a technical advocate partnering with engineering groups across Adyen. Required qualifications include 10+ years in software, systems, or platform engineering with 3+ years in a similar technical leadership role within observability or large-scale distributed data systems. Deep hands-on experience designing and operating core telemetry data engines at multi-petabyte scale is essential. Candidates should have practical understanding of structuring telemetry streams for LLM and RAG pipeline consumption, experience with industry-standard frameworks like OpenTelemetry, strong software development proficiency (Go, Java, or Python), extensive Kubernetes experience on production workloads, and exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
