Hinge Health is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead technical strategy and execution for its musculoskeletal (MSK) care programs. You'll own the architecture and delivery of new programs of care—from early concept through scaled, stable offerings—while strengthening the shared platform that powers all programs.
Key responsibilities include: leading the technical design of new MSK programs (similar to the recently launched migraine offering), translating product strategy into scalable technical plans, and mentoring engineers across the organization. You'll work with a modern stack (NestJS backend, React Native mobile, PostgreSQL) and collaborate closely with Product and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver cohesive member experiences.
The role balances greenfield innovation with hardening and scaling live products. You'll champion engineering practices around CI/CD, testing, and monitoring, and operate as a high-influence individual contributor who shapes technical direction through design docs, code, and mentorship rather than formal authority.
Required: 5+ years professional software engineering experience, 2+ years with TypeScript/JavaScript across the stack, 2+ years with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization, 2+ years with relational databases and distributed systems, and 2+ years mentoring or leading engineers.
Preferred: Direct NestJS and React Native experience, multi-team product delivery, healthcare/regulated industry experience (HIPAA), and a track record operating as a high-influence Staff-level IC.
