Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit and advance commercial space launch. The Launch team operates at the intersection of all major rocket systems—stages, payloads, ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment—based at the launch facility in Long Beach.
As Staff Engineer for Launch Fluids Engineering, you will own the design, fabrication, operation, and maintenance of Terran R's launch pad and support facilities. Your core responsibilities include:
• Design launch pad propellant and gas infrastructure systems, including fluid system architecture, computational modeling, pipe stress analysis, fabrication drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams, component specifications, and detailed work instructions.
• Supervise construction, activation, commissioning, and initial operations of these critical facilities.
• Solve technically challenging problems across multiple disciplines under programmatic pressure.
• Collaborate across propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, and corporate teams to integrate launch systems with the broader vehicle and mission.
You will work at a unique inflection point: early enough to shape product, process, and culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and approaching first flight. The Launch team sees the full integration of the rocket and has unmatched exposure to how all systems come together.
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years in full-cycle design engineering (analysis, build, test).
• Strong fundamentals in incompressible and compressible flow, heat transfer, and pipe stress analysis.
• Proven project lifecycle and project management experience.
• Track record of technical problem-solving and hands-on hardware build experience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to define the next generation of space launch operations, not repeat existing playbooks.
