Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. This Staff Engineer role leads the technical evolution of Adyen's customer experience from traditional dashboards into intelligent, conversational financial interfaces powered by AI.
You will architect and build agentic workflows and backend orchestration systems that transform natural language inputs into secure, authenticated financial operations. Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the next generation of conversational UIs and generative interfaces that adapt in real-time, moving beyond static dashboards to create streaming, multi-modal experiences.
• Acting as the primary technical liaison for AI initiatives across global teams, ensuring operational excellence and establishing gold-standard performance and extensibility for intelligent modules.
• Architecting security layers for conversational interfaces, solving the unique challenge of maintaining strict financial data privacy and zero-trust principles while leveraging LLMs and advanced data processing.
• Partnering with product leadership to identify high-impact flows where intelligent automation can solve complex merchant problems, combining technical implementation with strategic product thinking.
• Owning the full-stack technical lifecycle from backend services and data pipelines to frontend components, ensuring seamless integration across the platform.
• Mentoring engineers and driving technical standards across Adyen's global engineering ecosystem.
You are a product-minded architect with production-grade experience building LLM-powered interfaces, including prompt harnesses, policy enforcement, evaluation frameworks, RAG architectures, and secure data handling. You are deeply proficient in Java for backend services and TypeScript/React/Vue for complex frontends, with a security-first mindset for handling sensitive financial data. You operate autonomously within a large global organization, combining entrepreneurial speed with collaborative cross-functional partnership.
