Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer specializing in FPGA design to join its engineering team in Dallas, Texas. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on designing, developing, and optimizing field-programmable gate array (FPGA) solutions for Shield AI's autonomous systems and defense technology products. As a Staff Engineer in FPGA Design, you will take on company-wide technical leadership in FPGA architecture and implementation. Your responsibilities will include designing high-performance FPGA solutions, leading technical design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and establishing best practices for FPGA development across the organization. You will work on critical systems that power Shield AI's Hivemind autonomy software and unmanned aircraft platforms (V-BAT, X-BAT). Key responsibilities: - Design and architect FPGA solutions for autonomous systems and defense applications - Lead technical initiatives and set standards for FPGA development practices - Mentor and guide junior engineers on FPGA design methodologies - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and systems engineering - Optimize FPGA designs for performance, power consumption, and reliability - Conduct technical reviews and provide architectural guidance - Contribute to long-term technology roadmap and innovation Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company founded in 2015 with a mission to protect service members and civilians through intelligent autonomous systems.
