Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is hiring a Staff Electromechanical Systems & Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for complex electromechanical assemblies used in advanced aerospace and defense platforms.
In this role, you will own the end-to-end manufacturing strategy for highly integrated systems involving actuators, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, pumps, and combined mechanical/electrical subsystems. You will work across the full product lifecycle—from design for manufacturability (DFM) through production integration and field deployment—ensuring systems meet stringent aerospace and defense standards for reliability, performance, and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and refining manufacturing processes and assembly procedures for motion-control and mechanically actuated systems
- Collaborating with design, systems, and production engineering teams to optimize component integration and reduce manufacturing complexity
- Identifying and implementing process improvements, automation opportunities, and cost-reduction initiatives
- Establishing manufacturing specifications, tolerances, and quality standards
- Troubleshooting production issues and driving root-cause analysis
- Mentoring junior engineers and establishing best practices across manufacturing teams
- Supporting supply chain optimization and vendor qualification for critical subsystems
You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic production environments and have a track record of delivering robust, scalable manufacturing solutions for complex, mission-critical systems. Your expertise spans mechanical design, fluid power systems, electrical integration, and production engineering. You are comfortable working in regulated industries and understand the compliance and traceability requirements of aerospace and defense manufacturing.
