Shield AI is seeking a Staff Composites Manufacturing Engineer to lead critical manufacturing processes across multiple defense and aerospace programs. In this role, you will own initiatives to increase production throughput, reduce manufacturing costs, and scale operations to meet growing demand. You'll be instrumental in building infrastructure for a new production line supporting a next-generation jet platform, including selecting and deploying capital equipment, implementing hardware and software manufacturing tools, and establishing robust production systems and quality controls.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, supply chain, and production teams
- Designing and optimizing composite manufacturing processes for scale and efficiency
- Selecting, evaluating, and deploying manufacturing equipment and automation technologies
- Implementing software tools and systems to support production planning and execution
- Mentoring and developing other engineers on the manufacturing team
- Ensuring smooth integration of new technologies into existing production workflows
- Driving continuous improvement in yield, cycle time, and cost metrics
