Salary: USD 244,000 - 305,000 / annual
Datadog's Cloud Networks team is seeking a Staff Engineer to design, build, and maintain production network infrastructure powering the observability platform across AWS, GCP, Azure, and beyond. You will set technical direction for scaling multi-region, multi-cloud network footprint while maintaining high reliability and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and operate cloud network infrastructure across multiple cloud providers in multi-region environments
- Own end-to-end connectivity between clouds, customers, and developers, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable network paths
- Set clear technical direction for expanding data centers and evolving network architecture while maintaining stability
- Improve cross-site and cross-region connectivity patterns to support platform growth
- Lead deep investigations into latency, packet loss, and connectivity failures using packet analysis and path tracing
- Identify and deliver network efficiency and cost-saving opportunities
- Partner with internal teams and Cloud Service Providers to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues and integrate new capabilities
You bring deep networking expertise including BGP, route policies, path selection, and prefix advertisement. You have substantial experience designing and evolving large-scale Software-Defined Networks in interconnected environments. You're a strong developer who reaches for code as the default way to operate networks. You're comfortable owning ambiguous problems, setting technical direction, and driving cross-team collaboration across distributed time zones. You have practical experience operating production infrastructure and responding to incidents, including on-call participation.
