Okta is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the evolution of the Auth0 FGA (Fine-Grained Authorization) Developer Platform. This role focuses on the FGA Developer Tooling team, which owns SDKs across Go, JavaScript, .NET, Python, Java, and other languages, along with CLI workflows, IDE integrations, GitHub automation, developer documentation, and release strategy. All development is conducted in the open as open source with active community contributions. As a Staff Engineer, you will define technical direction and ensure cross-language consistency for developer-facing tooling. Key responsibilities include: - Define and drive technical direction for FGA SDKs, CLI, IDE integrations, and developer automation across both open-source and SaaS offerings - Lead architectural decisions for multi-language SDKs, leveraging and evolving the SDK generator that forms the core of all clients - Own and evolve the SDK generator framework, templates, and wrapper patterns to ensure consistency, configurability, and long-term maintainability - Establish standards across SDKs for authentication flows, error handling, retry logic, and rate limiting strategies - Ensure advanced SDK capabilities like BatchCheck and ListRelations are implemented with appropriate parallelization and performance safeguards - Own the release and versioning strategy for SDKs and developer tooling - Drive improvements to CLI workflows, GitHub Actions, CI pipelines, and developer documentation - Ensure high engineering standards for testing, dependency management, performance, and minimal external dependencies - Lead development in open source, review community pull requests, and improve contribution workflows - Partner with FGA Core on API design and internal consumers like Dashboard to ensure developer-friendly interfaces - Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the Developer Tooling team The guiding principle is "One developer experience, many deployment models."
