Payoneer is a global financial platform founded in 2005 that removes friction from cross-border business operations. The company serves over 2,500 colleagues worldwide and operates in over 190 countries and territories, providing global payments, compliance, multi-currency management, workforce management, working capital, and business intelligence solutions. You will join the Modernization Team, a newly formed platform-level engineering group tasked with solving the deepest, most systemic architectural challenges across Payoneer's platform. This is not a feature team—you will not own a single service or product surface. Instead, you operate as a platform-level force multiplier, taking on cross-cutting problems that are too strategic for individual product teams to own, building shared solutions and tooling, and enabling every product team to move faster and more safely. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will tackle end-to-end migrations, build shared infrastructure, and create tooling that multiplies engineering output across the organization. The team operates with a native agentic mindset, applying AI-assisted development across all phases of work: automated code generation, AI-driven migration scripts, intelligent test generation, code review, and documentation. Your role is to architect solutions that not only solve immediate problems but establish patterns and tools that benefit the entire engineering organization. This is a brand-new team being built from the ground up, giving you an outsized opportunity to shape how the team works, what it prioritizes, and the engineering culture you create together. You will work on strategic platform modernization initiatives that have company-wide impact. Required: 6+ years of backend engineering experience with Node.js, strong fundamentals, and production experience. The role is hybrid, based in Israel.
