Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise and environmental impact. As a Staff Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics, you will own the design and development of fault-tolerant, high-power-density motor controllers that are critical to the aircraft's propulsion system. Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle of power electronics hardware: from initial requirements capture and topology trade studies through component selection, circuit design, PCB layout, prototype verification, and manufacturing support. You will design and optimize passive components, manage EMC and lightning protection for both low and high-voltage systems, and conduct rigorous testing to validate functional and performance specifications. Key deliverables include motor controller drivers, sensors, power stages, and embedded control interfaces. You will lead new designs from conception into production, working cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems teams. Your work includes schematic and layout design, prototype testing, root cause analysis on failures, and troubleshooting of production designs. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced power electronics engineer who can take ownership of complex hardware from specification through manufacturing. The role requires deep expertise in power electronics design, fault tolerance, high-reliability systems, and aerospace-grade quality standards.
