CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as Unit Lead for the Reconfigurable Processing Unit (RPU) product line. This role combines deep technical expertise with project leadership and program management responsibilities.
As Unit Lead (Responsible Engineer), you will lead the design, development, integration, test, and flight qualification of advanced spaceborne payloads. The RPU is a complex, VPX-based electronics system integrating software-defined radios, single-board computers, power supply modules, RF front ends, modems, and custom software.
Key responsibilities include:
- Technical definition and execution of new RPU product variants
- Leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, RF, software, and systems disciplines
- Development of new VPX modules, backplanes, interface options, and software features
- On-time schedule execution and project management
- Primary technical point of contact for program managers and customers
- Flight qualification and compliance with space/aerospace standards
This role requires expertise in electrical engineering, systems integration, and spacecraft/airborne electronics. You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment with hands-on involvement in design and development. Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to balance technical depth with program delivery.
