The Nuclear Company is a Series A AI-enabled startup pioneering fleet-scale advanced nuclear reactor development. This Staff Electrical Engineer role is a technical leadership position responsible for designing, analyzing, and maintaining complex electrical systems for nuclear power plants and advanced reactor projects. Key responsibilities include: designing and analyzing electrical components and systems; preparing engineering calculations (short circuit, arc flash, relay settings), drawings, and specifications; reviewing and preparing engineering modification packages; providing technical guidance to junior engineering staff; diagnosing electrical equipment failures and supporting root cause analyses; reviewing vendor documentation; participating in design reviews and cross-disciplinary technical meetings with civil, mechanical, and instrumentation teams; supporting quality assurance programs; and recommending equipment improvements and new techniques to enhance performance, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Required qualifications: B.S. in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university; Engineering in Training (EIT) license; 8+ years of engineering experience; strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and IEEE standards; proficiency in ETAP or SKM software for electrical modeling and engineering tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or ANSYS; familiarity with NQA-1, IEEE, and NEI standards; ability to obtain security clearance for unescorted nuclear facility access; and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license; power industry or nuclear construction experience; and previous causal analysis experience.
