Relativity Space is building next-generation rockets and spacecraft systems to serve commercial and scientific missions. The Interplanetary Sciences Program aims to democratize deep space exploration by making planetary research faster, more affordable, and more capable.
As Staff Electrical Engineer, you will own the design, development, and qualification of high-performance spacecraft electronics for deep space compute and storage systems. Your responsibilities include:
• Design and build compute modules, network switches, storage nodes, and communications terminals for spacecraft
• Balance competing technical constraints: power, thermal, EMI, mechanical, and reliability requirements against mission capability needs (CPU, GPU, storage, bandwidth)
• Lead hands-on development campaigns to evaluate emerging technologies, derisk critical interfaces, and validate performance before full system integration
• Collaborate closely with science teams to maximize mission capability within spacecraft constraints
• Partner with software teams to bring up core infrastructure on both spacecraft and ground systems
• Work across internal and external teams to transition concepts from analysis through prototypes to flight-ready hardware
• Operate in a fast-paced, iterative environment emphasizing rapid prototyping, early testing, and continuous learning
This is a high-autonomy, high-accountability role where you'll have significant ownership over next-generation spacecraft electronics architecture. You'll drive technical decisions, lead cross-functional collaboration, and see your work deployed to deep space missions. The role requires balancing engineering rigor with agility as you move quickly from concept to flight systems.
