Salary: CAD 158,400 - 247,500 / annual
Jane App is seeking a Staff Developer for Cloud Engineering to help scale their infrastructure platform as the company enters its next growth phase. Reporting to Scott, the Cloud Engineering lead, you'll work alongside other staff-level engineers to shape the long-term technical vision for Jane's infrastructure and translate that vision into concrete deliverables.
You'll own several key responsibilities: setting longer-term technical direction for infrastructure alongside peer staff engineers; driving resolution on hard, ambiguous problems that span multiple teams; championing infrastructure improvements by building relationships and consensus across engineering; providing technical leadership to other teams on cloud architecture and design decisions; improving operational health by reducing alerts and hardening the platform; collaborating with the Application Security team on security and compliance hardening; and fostering an AI-positive mindset within the team.
The role requires deep AWS expertise including multi-region deployments and high-scale services, strong infrastructure-as-code skills (particularly Terraform), solid architecture fundamentals, and hands-on experience operating databases at scale (upgrades, scaling, performance tuning, capacity planning). You should have a track record of running large projects and driving consensus across stakeholders, with experience at a fast-growing company navigating the scaling journey from startup to enterprise scale. An AI-positive mindset with hands-on experience using AI tools for coding and research is expected, along with comfort participating in on-call rotations.
