We seek a Staff Detection & Response Engineer to design and own our security detection and incident response capabilities end-to-end. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an experienced engineer who wants to build detection infrastructure from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build the detection and telemetry pipeline, including logging coverage, detection stack, and data infrastructure
- Write high-signal detections focused on critical attack paths: identity, access, cloud control plane, and data exfiltration
- Build and own incident response processes: playbooks, on-call rotation, live response, and post-incident reviews
- Partner with security and platform engineering to close telemetry gaps and instrument visibility
- Establish detection-as-code and metrics-driven response standards
- Develop detections for AI-specific abuse and emerging threat patterns
- Leverage AI tools to augment your work and focus on critical priorities
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years in detection and response, including building detection capability and setting strategic direction (not just operating established systems)
- Deep AWS-native detection expertise (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, VPC flow logs, broader ecosystem)
- Detection-as-code and engineering-first mindset
- Calm, structured, and decisive incident response skills
- Interest in detecting AI/ML abuse and novel attack patterns
Nice-to-have experience includes consumer product at scale, early/founding detection hire background, and exposure to platform-abuse signals.
Compensation: $230,000–$330,000 annually. Benefits include equity, 401(k) with 3% match, comprehensive health insurance, unlimited PTO, 16 weeks paid parental leave, creative education stipend, commuter allowance, and daily in-office lunch. Role requires onsite presence at one of Suno's three offices.
