Salary: USD 190,000 - 283,000 / annual

As a Staff Data Scientist focused on Content Growth & Creator Strategy, you will drive product strategy and decision-making through rigorous experimentation and complex analysis. You'll work in a semi-embedded team structure, partnering directly with product, engineering, design, and research stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: - Design and measure experiments to inform feature decisions, including non-standard A/B tests and sophisticated causal inference methods - Provide end-to-end data science ownership for emerging content surfaces (Video, Groups, Events) with limited historical data - Evaluate feature performance and identify opportunities to grow content supply, contributors, and engagement - Own data architecture and quality requirements for content data assets spanning supply, creators, viewers, entities, content types, and surfaces - Evolve legacy data structures, identify coverage and quality gaps, and partner with Analytics Engineering to build source-of-truth tables - Develop key strategic insights through exploratory data analysis to inform future investments - Build scalable metrics and dashboards to empower efficient decision-making - Partner with Distribution to improve content discovery and connect insights across surfaces for portfolio-level impact - Participate in in-person events, trainings, off-sites, and team-building exercises Nextdoor operates in an AI-first environment and expects team members to actively use AI tools (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Glean) as part of their workflow to challenge thinking and take ownership of AI-assisted outputs. The role offers a hybrid employment model with offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and London. REQUIREMENTS: - Staff-level Data Scientist or Tech Lead experience, ideally in social media or consumer technology - Master's degree or Ph.D. in Statistics - Demonstrated expertise in non-randomized A/B testing, network testing, and advanced causal inference methods - Experience owning end-to-end product analytics from identifying opportunities through launching and measuring features - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with proven track record building effective relationships with Product, Engineering, and partners - Ability to operate as autonomous technical leader and influence product direction through rigorous analysis and clear communication - Expert knowledge of SQL and Python programming, including numpy, pandas, scikit-learn - Excellent communication skills to synthesize complex problems for diverse audiences including executives - Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies
