CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Communications Systems Modeling & Simulation Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
You will own the full lifecycle of communications system architectures, interfaces, subsystems, and performance models supporting product development across multiple programs. Your responsibilities include:
• Lead system modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, trade studies, and simulation activities
• Develop communications system architectures and technical solutions that satisfy product, customer, performance, interoperability, and system requirements
• Leverage digital modeling and simulation tools to support architecture trade studies, new business efforts, and requirement development
• Establish streamlined, repeatable modeling and simulation processes and identify opportunities for workflow automation and reuse across programs and product lines
• Conduct verification, validation, testing, simulation, integration, and troubleshooting across multiple development programs
• Resolve complex communications systems and system integration issues through analysis of simulation results, system performance data, and test results
• Guide implementation of engineering changes, system improvements, corrective actions, and design updates
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams
• Prepare technical documentation, interface control documentation, verification reports, and engineering change documentation
• Lead design reviews, technical investigations, customer technical discussions, and verification activities
• Evaluate communications systems engineering methods and identify improvement opportunities
• Promote consistent application of engineering standards, company procedures, and systems engineering best practices
• Guide continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen system performance, requirements quality, and technical execution

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related engineering field with 8–12 years of related experience; OR Master's degree with 6–8 years of related experience; OR PhD with 3–5 years of related experience in systems engineering, system architecture, requirements management, configuration management, systems integration, or related discipline
• Advanced knowledge of communications systems, systems engineering principles, system architecture, requirements development, and interface management
• Proficiency in systems modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, simulation tools, trade studies, and engineering analysis methods
• In-depth knowledge of digital communications, RF fundamentals, networking concepts, signal processing, interface development, interoperability, and system integration
• Understanding of systems engineering processes, verification methodologies, engineering documentation, requirements management, technical standards, and model validation
• Proficiency in modeling and simulation, product development, configuration management, multidisciplinary engineering collaboration, and system performance optimization
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Experience with engineering analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, STK, Python, or equivalent
• Experience with engineering documentation, requirements management, and collaboration tools such as DOORS, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
