The Core Licensing & Devices team owns the critical financial layer that converts Verkada's licenses into recognized revenue. This is a double-entry accounting ledger system that Finance closes the books on and auditors trace, making correctness non-negotiable. As Verkada scales toward millions of devices and tighter audit requirements, this system becomes increasingly load-bearing.
In this Staff role, you will own the accounting model, invariants, and correctness guarantees of the licensing-to-revenue ledger, ensuring it handles concurrency, retries, and failures reliably. You'll design systems for upmarket licensing including pay-as-you-go metering, fixed-term commitments, and enterprise packaging. You'll build reconciliation and controls enabling Finance to close books daily and auditors to trace any dollar back to source with full auditability and immutability.
You'll partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Revenue, and Product to translate revenue-recognition policy (ASC 606, deferred revenue, contract modifications) into precise, testable system behavior. You'll lead major features end-to-end, mentoring others through design reviews, code reviews, and documentation. You'll drive operational rigor with strong observability, tight SLOs, low pager noise, and blameless incident learning. You'll help shape the platform's roadmap as Verkada scales.
The team is small, high-trust, and high-autonomy, giving and receiving feedback directly while maintaining high bars on execution and written communication.
