Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to help architect and scale the Grafana App Platform as a multi-tenant, SaaS-first observability system. The company is refactoring Grafana's core architecture to support both open-source and proprietary apps that integrate directly with dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry data.
In this role, you will own significant portions of the platform's backend infrastructure, write and review design documents, and actively shape the technical roadmap. You'll code new features, enhance operational systems based on production insights, and mentor other engineers across the organization. The position includes weekday on-call responsibilities (12h x 5d) and weekend rotations (24h x 2d).
You'll work in a fully remote, globally distributed team of 1,600+ across 40+ countries. Grafana Labs is backed by top-tier investors including Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and others. The company serves 7,000+ customers including Anthropic, Bloomberg, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Salesforce, with 35+ million users relying on the platform.
