Truecaller is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to design and develop the next generation of their high-performance SDK, serving over 450 million active users across 190+ countries. In this role, you will take ownership of features and ensure exceptional user experience while driving best practices in Android architecture, modularization, testing, and engineering workflows across the company.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing robust Android code that works seamlessly across 150+ device types and configurations
- Contributing actively to the Android engineering discipline by establishing best practices in architecture, modularization, and testing
- Championing privacy, security, and reliability in all Android features and user data interactions
- Identifying performance bottlenecks in business workflows and designing low-latency, highly efficient solutions
- Building clean, scalable, and maintainable code using modern Android development tools (Jetpack, Kotlin, Coroutines)
- Leveraging knowledge of ad tech APIs, SDKs, and mediation platforms to optimize ad delivery and monetization
- Collaborating with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to turn ideas into reality
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on Android development experience with Java, Kotlin, Coroutines, and Dependency Injection
- Extensive experience with modern Android application development tools and libraries (application lifecycle, asynchronous server communication, UI components)
- Familiarity with ad tech concepts, platforms, and best practices (mediation, bidding)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and proactiveness in tackling challenging problems
- Strong experience designing and architecting high-scale Android applications
- Proficiency with Git and testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Roboelectric, Espresso)
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and gRPC
- Ability to monitor and optimize application performance
Desirable qualifications include experience with Jetpack Compose and deeper ad tech platform expertise.
