Robinhood is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to lead the technical direction of Android experiences across high-impact product areas. You will define and drive architecture for intuitive, scalable, and inclusive mobile experiences that empower millions of users to engage with their finances. In this role, you will lead complex, ambiguous initiatives end-to-end—from early product and technical strategy through architecture, implementation, experimentation, launch, and long-term evolution. You'll partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape roadmaps, influence product decisions, and deliver solutions with meaningful customer and business impact. Key responsibilities include: - Define technical direction for Android experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android APIs - Lead large-scale initiatives across high-impact product areas - Establish and uphold engineering standards, architecture patterns, and development practices that improve quality, scalability, maintainability, and developer velocity - Act as a technical leader and multiplier by mentoring engineers, driving design reviews, unblocking critical decisions, and raising the bar for execution and collaboration - Partner with cross-functional teams to influence technical and product strategy You bring 8+ years of professional Android development experience, including leading large-scale or technically complex mobile initiatives. You have deep proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java, strong expertise in Android SDK fundamentals and architecture patterns (MVVM), and demonstrated experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, RxJava, and common libraries like Retrofit and Room. You excel at collaboration, influencing cross-functional partners, and mentoring senior engineers. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required. This role is based in Menlo Park, CA with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
