Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Staff Analyst, Methods role is a senior technical position focused on structural analysis and testing of rotor systems for a new unmanned vehicle platform. Key responsibilities include performing detailed structural analyses of dynamic system components (rotor head, blades, control systems); evaluating static strength and fatigue life using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis for flight and ground load conditions; analyzing high and low cycle fatigue in metallic and composite structures; authoring structural substantiation reports and technical documentation; supporting full-scale component and flight testing including test requirements, instrumentation, and data reduction; developing best practices for structural analysis of critical aerospace structures; and collaborating with aerodynamics, loads, and dynamics teams to design high-performance propeller and rotor blades. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering discipline; 5+ years of experience in design and analysis of critical aircraft structures; proficiency in ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent FE software; knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance in composites and metallic components; ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD models; CAD design experience (NX preferred); strong technical and communication skills; and experience in fast-paced design environments. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering; 10+ years in rotorcraft dynamic systems (rotors, control systems, propeller/rotor blades); background in ground and flight testing of composite aerospace structures; familiarity with FAA regulations (FAR Parts 23, 27, 33, 35); experience with static/dynamic loads derivation for fixed-wing and VTOL aircraft; aeroelastic analysis capability; and prior FAA or military rotorcraft certification involvement. The role involves mentoring junior team members and establishing best practices for the program.
