The Black Tux is reinventing formal wear through modern rental suits and tuxedos made of 100% wool, ordered online, and delivered for free. The company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Finance team and support day-to-day accounting operations.
In this role, you will prepare month-end close account reconciliations and journal entries across cash, inventory, settlement receivables, assets, liabilities, revenue, and operating expenses. You will assist with monthly operations actual vs. plan variance analysis and related accrual entries. A key responsibility involves monitoring and tracking inventory general ledger accounts, including monthly reconciliations, month-end accruals, and close collaboration with supply chain and warehouse teams to improve inventory process flow and controls.
Additional responsibilities include performing ad-hoc reconciliations and analysis related to customer sales, sales tax, and expense variances; preparing compliance forms for property tax, sales tax, business licenses, and franchise taxes; assisting in developing and documenting new process workflows for inventory, accounts payable, and internal controls; and gathering and preparing audit-related requests from third parties.
You will report to the Assistant Controller and work closely with Senior Accountants. The role is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced startup environment while maintaining work-life balance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of general accounting and/or public accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP (preferred)
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or other accounting ERP systems
- Self-starter with ability to prioritize various responsibilities
- Experience working with inventory (preferred but not required)
- Startup environment experience (preferred but not required)
