AngelList operates across dozens of legal entities, each requiring separate accounting records. As Staff Accountant for AP & Procurement, you will own the procure-to-pay process end-to-end across this multi-entity environment, ensuring every invoice, purchase order, and payment is correctly coded and routed to the appropriate entity on the first attempt.
You will apply accounting judgment to classify expenses, capitalize fixed assets, amortize prepaids, and apply accrual thresholds across all entities. You'll manage the full procurement lifecycle including purchase order creation, vendor onboarding, and vendor management. You'll run payment cycles across subsidiaries and drive the annual 1099 process.
This role requires you to move beyond transactional invoice processing. You'll own AP-related intercompany activity, consolidation tasks, and maintain audit-ready schedules and documentation. You'll identify opportunities to improve the procure-to-pay process through automation, leveraging tools like Ramp and NetSuite to reduce manual coding, matching, and reconciliation while maintaining strong controls. You'll support month-end close activities and be expected to make independent accounting decisions and defend those decisions to leadership and audit teams.
You'll communicate accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders, explaining coding decisions to controllers and rejected expenses to operational team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of accounting experience with meaningful ownership of accounts payable at volume; demonstrated ability to make and defend accounting decisions independently
- Strong foundation in expense classification, prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Ramp (or comparable platforms), ideally in a multi-subsidiary environment
- Proven track record of process improvement through automation; ability to articulate what changed and what improved
- High attention to detail and proactive risk identification
- Ability to communicate with both finance and non-finance audiences
