Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI, focused on delivering 10-100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else by rethinking every layer of the stack. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them with teams spanning hardware and software. The Product Engineering team builds the power and cooling systems that enable gigawatt-scale AI data centers faster and denser than grid-standard supply chains allow. The SST (Solid-State Transformer) group is designing solid-state transformers as a core building block of the power architecture. As SST Systems Architect and Technical Lead, you will architect the SST end-to-end, selecting topology (ISOP DAB stacks, MMC-based, or alternative approaches) and semiconductor strategy, with every choice defended on efficiency, redundancy, manufacturability, and device availability. You will lead power electronics, magnetics, and controls engineers from architecture through working hardware, owning technical decisions that drive prototype development rather than endless debate. Key responsibilities include: owning system trade-offs and interfaces with the MVDC systems team, defining precisely where the SST stops and the system begins so both teams can design against clear specifications; building the program plan and prototype roadmap with honest build-vs-partner recommendations; and developing vendor and research partnerships across device makers, labs, and universities to secure necessary devices, test capacity, and expertise. You should have 15+ years in power conversion and have led an SST or MV converter program at the level of ABB/Hitachi Energy research, GE, Delta, EPRI, or equivalent research lineage. You've owned converter topology selection, semiconductor strategy, and system trade-offs at MW scale and can defend your choices. You've led converter development teams from architecture through working hardware (not just papers or simulations), understand the SiC ecosystem deeply enough to write a five-year semiconductor strategy in a market where 10kV devices barely exist, and have lived through a program that died or nearly died and learned from it. You can write and defend a 12-month program plan for 8 engineers line by line. Bonus experience includes medium-frequency transformer design, MVDC system integration, established vendor and university research relationships, or MV power conversion certification exposure. Fluidstack operates on extreme ownership with full autonomy, velocity-driven execution, first-principles thinking, and deep engagement with frontier AI infrastructure problems.
