Scopely's Security team is building a new client security function in China and seeking a Senior Client Security Engineer to lead this initiative. You will design and ship client/server-side protections for large-scale mobile games, combat sophisticated cheating ecosystems, and ensure fair play for tens of millions of players across Scopely's portfolio, including MONOPOLY GO!, Pokémon GO, and other major titles. Key responsibilities include building and growing the Client Security team in China, setting technical direction and operational best practices. You will design, implement, and maintain client-side detections against third-party cheating tools, modified clients, hooking frameworks, and emulators on Android and iOS. You'll own client security integration into Scopely's internal anti-cheat platforms, working closely with teams to ensure detections are actionable and scalable. You will define and evolve obfuscation and hardening strategies for China mobile builds, including binary protection, anti-debugging, anti-tamper, and integrity checks. You'll evaluate and integrate third-party hardening vendors where appropriate. Building strong coverage for the China mobile ecosystem is critical—this includes distribution through multiple Android app stores and OEM devices, diverse OS/ROM variants, rooted/jailbroken environments, and local PC/emulator-based cheating patterns. Contributing hands-on code is expected: C++ plus Java/Kotlin and/or Objective-C/Swift in security-sensitive paths, including detection logic, integrity checks, and secure client-server protocols. Required qualifications: experience in mobile security, game anti-cheat, or client-side security engineering with direct work on Android or iOS native code. Direct reverse engineering experience is essential. Deep hands-on expertise with Android and iOS internals, hooking and instrumentation frameworks, and common mobile client security attack vectors. Strong proficiency in C/C++ and at least one mobile native language, with production shipping experience in large apps. Demonstrated experience designing and shipping client-side anti-cheat or integrity systems that integrate with server-side enforcement or analytics pipelines. Prior experience managing or technically directing a small engineering team. Experience with large-scale telemetry or anti-abuse pipelines and using data to tune detections. Professional proficiency in both Mandarin and English, written and spoken. Full-time in-office (5 days/week) with relocation to Tokyo required.
