Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket to deliver payloads to orbit using advanced 3D printing manufacturing. The Avionics team owns the full lifecycle of the rocket's electrical systems—from design through qualification and production. In this role, you will own the design, routing, and integration of electrical wire harnessing within the Terran R Avionics System. This includes connectors, cables, and mechanical supports. You'll work from conception through qualification and into production, with high ownership of components that will actually fly. Key responsibilities include: - Design and route electrical harnesses using 3D modeling and 2D drafting tools - Collaborate across structures, electrical hardware, propulsion, and software teams to optimize system-level avionics architecture - Conduct architecture trades and define requirements with cross-functional partners - Validate designs for flight through rapid prototyping and test campaigns - Support vehicle-level integration by defining avionics systems integration operations, checkouts, and test plans - Deliver detailed designs with production and test considerations You'll be deeply embedded in a fast-moving aerospace engineering environment where autonomy and ownership exist at every level. The team leverages close partnerships between design, manufacturing, and test to enable rapid iteration. This is an early-stage opportunity to help shape Terran R's fundamental avionics architecture. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field); 5+ years in full lifecycle design engineering; experience with electrical harness design and mechanical routing in 3D CAD; experience integrating and testing complex multi-disciplinary electrical systems. Nice-to-haves: NX CAD and Teamcenter proficiency; Zuken E3 electrical design software; scripting/software development experience (Python, LabView, C/C++); experience developing electrical and mechanical test fixtures and production harnessing; hardware-in-the-loop (HIL/HITL) test systems experience.
