Zscaler is seeking a Senior Staff Software Development Engineer to join its backend engineering team in Mohali. This is a hybrid role reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, positioned as a key technical leader driving critical system-level optimizations, automation frameworks, and multi-cloud infrastructure strategy.
You will work with Linux/FreeBSD-based systems, developing and optimizing software across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms. Key responsibilities include writing and maintaining automation scripts in Python or Shell for infrastructure tasks and cloud workloads, conducting performance profiling to identify and resolve resource utilization bottlenecks, and collaborating with senior engineers to debug and resolve complex system and application-level issues. You'll also handle VM image creation and export across public cloud platforms.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of C programming experience with deep understanding of performance optimization, hands-on proficiency with Python and/or Shell scripting, and solid knowledge of Linux/FreeBSD operating systems including process management, threading, memory management, and networking. You should be proficient in AWS, Azure, and GCP infrastructure tasks, and have hands-on experience designing and maintaining distributed systems with Jenkins pipeline deployment. Preferred qualifications include networking protocol knowledge, database internals and tuning experience, and Git version control familiarity.
