Hims & Hers, a NYSE-traded health and wellness platform, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead technical design and implementation of scalable front-end experiences across web and mobile platforms. You will own the architecture and performance of customer-facing applications built with React and React Native, directly impacting patient acquisition, engagement, and retention. In this role, you'll lead the design of high-performance web and mobile solutions, mentor junior engineers on best practices and design patterns, and advocate for your team's technical priorities within the broader engineering organization. You'll participate in product discovery to assess feasibility and validate ideas through prototypes and experiments. Collaboration is key—you'll work closely with UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and platform teams to ensure seamless integration and intuitive user experiences. Key responsibilities include implementing front-end observability in Datadog (real user monitoring, crash reporting, error tracking), identifying and optimizing performance bottlenecks (render performance, bundle size, mobile memory/battery usage), and elevating team engineering standards through improved workflows and processes. You'll conduct code reviews, create technical documentation, and contribute to hiring and onboarding efforts. Required qualifications: 5+ years shipping production code as a software engineer; 3+ years building React Native applications for iOS and Android with app store release experience; proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks (React, React Native, NextJS, GraphQL); experience with state management (Redux, Context API), testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library), and mobile E2E testing tools (Detox, Appium); CI/CD and CDN/edge delivery knowledge; WCAG accessibility standards familiarity; and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred: customer retention/lifecycle feature experience, e-commerce background, Node.js for server-side rendering or BFF patterns, and native Android development (Kotlin). Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience required.
