Higharc is a VC-backed startup ($175M+ raised) transforming how new homes are designed and built. The company is assembling a founding team with alumni from Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple, backed by top-tier venture capital and 18+ strategic investors from construction, building products, and distribution.
You'll join as a Senior Software Engineer on a new, early-stage team focused on bringing framing and structural analysis capabilities to homebuilder-facing products. This is primarily an individual-contributor role with opportunity to grow into a tech lead position as the team scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement algorithms and systems for framing and structural analysis, from prototype through MVP
- Leverage AI-assisted workflows to build quickly while maintaining correctness, maintainability, and reliability
- Partner with product, customer success, and engineering peers to define behavior, identify gaps, and support customer success
- Apply structural engineering judgment to translate real-world framing and structural systems into robust software
- Write comprehensive tests covering edge cases and corner cases
- Help shape the new team's technical direction and mentor engineers as the team grows
- Operate effectively in ambiguity as scope and priorities evolve
You bring 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in TypeScript, combined with structural or mechanical engineering background (academic or professional). You're comfortable with computational geometry and mathematical modeling, proficient with modern development tools including AI-assisted workflows, and take clear ownership of code correctness and maintainability. You thrive in ambiguity on emerging teams and communicate tradeoffs and timelines clearly.
A major plus: experience with framing, structural analysis, or CAD/CAM tooling; background moving between engineering stacks (C#, Python, etc.); ability to pick up TypeScript and React quickly.
