Splice is a creative platform for music producers, offering a subscription service with an industry-leading catalog of sounds, samples, and an expanding AI stack. The company provides a rent-to-own marketplace for DAWs and plugins that integrate seamlessly into any music production workflow.
As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Audio Core team, you will drive the development and improvement of large, complex applications, libraries, and services powering Splice's DAW Plugins, Web, Desktop, and Mobile apps. You'll shape the technical roadmap alongside Engineering, Design, and Product Management, influencing the creative workflows of musicians globally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design and implementation of the audio engine powering Splice's DAW plugins
- Collaborate with Product Management and Design to shape user experience
- Represent the team in technical and business discussions
- Propose and realize solutions that improve maintenance, efficiency, and feature depth
- Work across UI and back-end code, rapidly iterating on creative workflows
- Serve as a go-to expert in key codebase areas, proactively sharing knowledge
- Facilitate cross-team alignment on goals and technical tradeoffs; author RFCs
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects delivering measurable results
- Mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and raise code review standards
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years building and maintaining production-quality audio software
- Expertise in signal processing, real-time systems, multithreading, and AI/model solutions
- Expert-level C++ developer with production experience in TypeScript
- Experience with JUCE or similar plugin frameworks
- Strong software performance optimization and architectural skills
- Proven ability to drive complex technical initiatives from problem definition through delivery
- Strong agentic coding skills and harness engineering experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Bias toward action, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making
- Comfort working across diverse technical stacks
