Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations in physical operations—agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing—to harness IoT data for actionable insights and operational improvement.
As a Senior Engineer in the Infrastructure organization, you will evolve the cloud foundations powering every Samsara product. Your mission is to reduce systemic production risk and enable growth by making infrastructure safer to change, easier to operate, and more resilient and cost-efficient at scale.
You will bring deep expertise in at least one infrastructure domain—compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud control planes—and apply it across Samsara's multi-account, multi-region AWS environment. Key responsibilities include modernizing compute and stateful infrastructure, strengthening capacity and failure isolation, building standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows, and creating reusable automation.
You will partner with product engineering teams to transform recurring risks and manual operations into durable platforms and paved paths. The role emphasizes learning from how infrastructure fails and using that experience to improve both platforms and engineering practices.
Specific responsibilities include designing and operating reliable cloud platforms; improving scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency; building self-service provisioning and progressive rollout workflows; identifying shared failure modes and preventing escalation; contributing to multi-account, multi-region, and isolated AWS architectures including GovCloud; participating in operational ownership and incident response; mentoring engineers; and clearly communicating architecture and trade-offs to stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications: 6+ years designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems with production experience; deep expertise in at least one infrastructure domain (compute orchestration, networking, storage systems, or control planes); demonstrated ability to operate critical systems at scale; and strong communication skills.
