Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations in physical operations—agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing—to harness IoT data for actionable insights and operational improvement.
The Cloud Governance Platform team builds foundational systems that enforce governance, identity security, compliance, and software supply-chain protections across Samsara's cloud infrastructure and developer environments. Rather than relying on manual reviews, the team delivers secure, compliant-by-default systems through cloud IAM guardrails, automated controls, and scalable platform abstractions across AWS and GCP.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute hands-on to systems that must be reliable and secure at scale, taking end-to-end ownership of your components. You will bring strong engineering judgment to design discussions while collaborating with senior/staff engineers and your manager on cross-team tradeoffs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build core components of the Cloud Governance Platform, including cloud IAM, security controls, compliance enforcement, and software supply-chain security capabilities
- Contribute to the roadmap for governance and security tooling across AWS and GCP
- Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into automated, continuously enforced controls
- Build and maintain software supply-chain security tooling, including SAST, DAST, and secure CI/CD pipeline patterns
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams on cross-functional risk and governance solutions
- Share technical knowledge through code reviews, pairing, and collaboration
- Communicate technical approach, tradeoffs, and risks clearly in design docs and discussions
- Champion Samsara's cultural principles as the company scales globally
Minimum requirements: 4+ years of software development experience, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent, strong programming fundamentals (Golang, Python, or similar), deep hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar), strong understanding of cloud security and IAM systems, experience designing and operating highly reliable distributed systems, and strong communication skills.
