As a Senior Software Engineer on the Backend team, you'll help build and evolve the backend systems powering ClassPass. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and QA to take ideas from concept to production in a way that's reliable, scalable, and grounded in real customer needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop robust, maintainable backend services and APIs that scale across millions of users
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver features from ideation through deployment, iterating based on feedback and outcomes
- Promote engineering excellence through automated testing, thoughtful code reviews, and effective monitoring
- Drive simplicity by reducing unnecessary complexity while maintaining reliability and quality
- Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape how microservices interact across a growing service-oriented ecosystem
- Strengthen operational health by identifying risks early and improving observability and resilience
- Lead with curiosity by seeking feedback, learning from diverse perspectives, and mentoring teammates
- Help foster a collaborative team culture that values autonomy, accountability, and impact
You bring 8+ years of senior-level experience building and operating backend systems for large-scale SaaS platforms. You're proficient in object-oriented languages (Java, Kotlin, C#) and comfortable working in mixed stacks. You have hands-on experience architecting backend services in microservices environments, strong SQL and relational database skills, and familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or Kibana. You understand SDLC, design patterns, and Agile methodologies, and you're a clear communicator who collaborates effectively across roles. You're motivated to deliver meaningful solutions, keep learning, and support others' growth.
The tech stack includes Java, Kotlin, C#, JavaScript, React, microservices architecture, service-to-service integrations, SQL relational databases, and observability tools like New Relic and Kibana.
