Pendo is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join a lean, fast-moving team building AI-powered features that transform raw product usage data into actionable insights for customers. This is a full-stack role with a strong frontend lean, focused on reducing manual work and enabling customers to extract value from Pendo's analytics platform.
Day-to-day responsibilities include shipping AI-backed features end-to-end, from discovery through delivery. You'll work across TypeScript, Vue.js, and backend services, with hands-on ownership of both frontend experiences and backend APIs. The role emphasizes product judgment: you'll validate customer problems, shape scope, define success metrics, and iterate based on real usage data. You'll join customer calls, test prototypes, and ensure the team is solving meaningful problems.
A core part of this role is working with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code) as a daily multiplier, while maintaining strong engineering rigor and accountability for AI-generated code. You'll also focus on AI product quality—managing latency, hallucination, inconsistent output, and building user trust in intelligent experiences.
You'll collaborate directly with product, design, and fellow engineers in a small team where ownership and leverage matter. The role includes raising team quality through code review, mentorship, and unblocking teammates, while keeping delivery moving in ambiguous, fast-moving spaces.
Must-haves: hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agents (production or personal projects); full-stack engineering with frontend strength, strong TypeScript, DOM comfort, and backend reasoning; 3+ years building and scaling web applications; strong product judgment and comfort with ambiguous problems; experience defining success metrics and iterating on real usage data; direct customer/end-user validation experience; solid software architecture and API design knowledge; clear communication and mentorship ability.
Nice-to-haves: experience as or alongside a product manager; familiarity with product analytics tools like Pendo.
