The microservices platform team provides the reliable, scalable infrastructure that powers Dialpad's entire engineering organization. As the company expands to support both traditional SaaS services and cutting-edge agentic AI capabilities, this role is critical to evolving the platform from core products to enabling reliable, repeatable infrastructure patterns across the company.
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will own significant portions of the platform roadmap, balancing long-term technical vision with incremental delivery. You will design and operate foundational systems including infrastructure-as-code, multi-region architecture, and cloud resources while partnering with engineering teams to solve complex problems. This role combines hands-on backend development with platform design, production ownership, and technical leadership.
Key responsibilities include: owning 6-12 month roadmap phases for shared microservices infrastructure; translating business needs into robust technical solutions with focus on cost, scalability, and reliability; driving end-to-end execution for platform components including Terraform automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows; solving classes of problems to drive team-wide improvements in scalability and observability; representing the team in technical design, triage, and on-call rotations; and partnering cross-functionally to resolve platform friction and evangelize engineering best practices.
