Zscaler is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join its backend engineering team in Mohali. This hybrid role reports to the Director of Software Engineering and focuses on designing, building, and maintaining high-performance system components for Zscaler's cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform.
You will develop and maintain software components primarily using C programming language, implementing and optimizing data structures for efficient problem-solving. Your work will involve Linux/FreeBSD-based systems, including configuration and scripting. You'll collaborate with senior engineers to understand, debug, and resolve system and application-level issues, using debugging tools like GDB to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of C programming experience with a strong understanding of core principles. You should have hands-on experience with data structures (arrays, linked lists, stacks, trees) and their applications, familiarity with operating system concepts (process management, threading, memory management), and proficiency with GDB or similar debugging tools. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of version control tools (Git), familiarity with networking concepts and protocols, and a BS/MS degree in computer science or a related field. You should demonstrate curiosity about AI tools and a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance workflows.
