AEVEX is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to serve as the technical owner of an engineering product line across its full lifecycle from prototype to production and fielded product support. This is a hybrid role based in either Dayton, OH or Tampa, FL, with up to 25% travel (CONUS and OCONUS). In this role, you will act as the technical manager for an assigned product line, accountable for driving all aspects of product design, production, testing, and support. Key responsibilities include: • Manage the full lifecycle development and sustainment from concept to retirement of assigned product lines • Develop and tailor System Engineering processes based on program cost, schedule, and risk tolerance • Develop requirements traceability verification matrices (RVTM) and support verification analysis and testing • Serve as the interface between Project Management, Platform, Design, and Production teams • Co-chair (with Program Management) the Air Vehicle Change Control Board (CCB) for assigned UAS platforms and coordinate design upgrades and corrective actions • Implement and manage AS9100 design and development processes to ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability • Develop and document system and subsystem level requirements and interfaces in coordination with suppliers and design teams • Verify the 'as designed' solution against requirements • Drive integration requirements and schedule for NAC systems being implemented on internal and external platforms • Define system and subsystem interfaces and translate requirements across multi-disciplinary teams • Lead a team of engineers and contractors to ensure technical solutions are within scope, budget, and delivered on time to customers AEVEX, headquartered in Solana Beach, California, supports U.S. national security missions and partner nation needs globally by providing full-spectrum aviation, remote sensing, and analysis solutions. The company specializes in custom design and engineering, rapid prototyping, sensor integration, aircraft modification and certification, flight test instrumentation, mission operations, advanced intelligence data processing, and tailored hardware/software mission-system tools. Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience) • 10 years of relevant experience leading teams in the development of aircraft, unmanned systems, and/or other complex electro-mechanical systems • Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards in design and manufacturing environments • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); ability to read and understand technical requirements documents • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills • Strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet project/company objectives • Teamwork focus and ability to prioritize team success • Strong ability to use System Engineering tools to document and manage project requirements • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship required Preferred qualifications: • Master's Degree in Engineering • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) • Flight testing experience • RC Aircraft or UAS experience • JIRA task management experience
