ButterflyMX is a property access and security platform installed in 20,000+ multifamily, commercial, gated communities, and student-housing properties worldwide. The company enables developers, owners, property managers, and tenants to automate access control, operations, and security from a unified platform.
As Senior Product Manager for Gated Communities, you will own the complete product strategy and roadmap for the gated communities segment. You'll work directly with sales, channel partners, and developers to define what it means for ButterflyMX to be a gated-native platform and build the capabilities to support that vision. Reporting to the Director of Product Management for Access and Security, you'll have significant ownership and visibility to shape this segment's future.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for gated communities, defining platform capabilities and investment priorities
- Partnering with and influencing other ButterflyMX product teams to prioritize gated community needs
- Building strong relationships with homebuilders and developers to gather market signal on how they evaluate, adopt, and scale with the platform
- Embedding AI into the product where it creates genuine value, using it as a lever for better experiences and smarter operations
- Defining and tracking metrics that matter for segment health and growth to inform prioritization
- Collaborating with customer experience and implementation teams to improve onboarding, training, and day-one readiness for gated properties
The role emphasizes a builder's mindset: you'll use AI and modern tooling to prototype ideas quickly, work closely with engineering to bring concepts to life, and close the loop between product decisions and actual implementation. You'll influence across engineering, design, go-to-market, and leadership through strong communication and earned trust.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in product management with a track record of owning products from concept to market with measurable business impact
- Strong product taste with hands-on design fluency; ability to defend good design and take rough ideas to testable prototypes spanning digital screens and physical moments (e.g., guard check-in and on-site hardware)
- Ownership mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, curious by default, energized by defining paths forward when none exists
- Strong organization and follow-through; ability to deliver projects and lead cross-functional teams with executional excellence
- Sharp communication skills: ability to influence across engineering, design, go-to-market, and leadership through writing, presenting, and earning trust without authority
- Builder's mindset: use AI and modern tooling to explore ideas quickly; close the loop between what you ask engineering to build and how it actually works
Nice to have:
- Experience in proptech, multifamily real estate, or property operations
- B2B2C products where the buyer and daily user are different people
- Experience with hardware and software systems working together
