Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. We seek a Senior Platform Engineer to join our platform engineering team and accelerate product development and operational efficiency.
You will bridge development, infrastructure, and AI/ML initiatives, focusing on automation, self-service infrastructure, and workflow optimization. This is an individual contributor role ideal for an experienced engineer who creates leverage for others and tackles complex, interdisciplinary challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
CI/CD and Automation: Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker) for rapid, safe deployments across environments. Drive adoption of build management, testing automation, and deployment strategies (Canary, Blue/Green). Minimize deployment friction and cycle time.
Self-Service Infrastructure & Provisioning: Develop self-service tooling and internal platforms (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, cloud APIs) empowering development teams to provision and manage infrastructure securely. Establish guardrails and policy-as-code for compliance, cost efficiency, and security.
AI Infrastructure Enhancement: Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to improve platforms for model training, experimentation, and serving. Focus on MLOps pipeline operationalization, including data lineage tracking, feature store integration, and production model deployment automation. Optimize resource allocation for AI workloads (GPU, specialized hardware).
Workflow Automation & Internal Tooling: Architect and build automated workflows and bots (Slack, Zoom) to streamline engineering tasks (on-call handoffs, incident response, environment checks, approvals). Develop internal APIs and services connecting disparate systems.
Required: 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related discipline. Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred). Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Scripting and programming (Python, Go, Bash). Experience designing and managing CI/CD systems at scale. Proven track record building internal developer platforms or self-service tools.
Preferred: AI/ML infrastructure, MLOps tooling, or data pipeline experience (Airflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, SageMaker). Conversational interfaces, bots, or workflow automation for Slack/Teams. Distributed tracing, logging, monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog). Cloud security best practices (IAM, network security, secrets management).
