Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations to harness IoT data for actionable insights across physical operations including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.
You will be the most AI-forward technologist on Samsara's Application Security team, using frontier AI models to discover vulnerabilities across cloud, software, and firmware before attackers do. This is a newly created role at the intersection of security engineering and applied AI, reporting into AppSec with a clear path to shape Samsara's AI security strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver accurate security assessments of Samsara's software, code, and firmware, evaluating resilience against AI-driven and adversarial attacks
- Translate general AI security findings into Samsara-specific fixes for the application security layer, adapting techniques from software to hardware and embedded firmware
- Find both AI-specific and traditional vulnerabilities (injection, IDOR, etc.) using AI-driven offensive validation
- Build and pressure-test novel AI-enabled security tooling and workflows, driving adoption across the security organization
- Benchmark frontier models against predecessors for security tasks; build release criteria and guardrails for safe adoption
- Support AppSec vulnerability triage through office-hours rotation and help run the bug bounty program
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, hardware, and leadership; present findings to security and executive stakeholders as the go-to expert on AI-related security risk
- Help define and drive Samsara's medium- and long-term strategy for adopting AI safely within security operations
- Use frontier AI/LLM tools (Anthropic, OpenAI cybersecurity programs) hands-on for offensive validation and defensive tooling
- Champion Samsara's cultural principles as the company scales globally
Note: This role is open to US candidates except those in SF Bay Area Metro, NYC Metro, or Washington D.C. Metro.
Requirements:
- 8+ years in application security, vulnerability management, threat modeling, offensive security, or closely related discipline, with demonstrated application fix impact and influence across a large organization
- Hands-on experience building AI or agentic workflows for security use cases
- Technical security assessment experience across both software and hardware/firmware environments
- Experience creating solutions for secure code with engineers using languages such as GoLang
- Experience developing AI and agentic solutions using GitHub and AWS cloud
Ideal candidate also has:
- Experience with AI-specific attack techniques (prompt injection, jailbreaks, model/agent abuse) for vulnerability management
- Experience building or validating security controls for agentic AI, RAG systems, or LLM-integrated platforms
- Red-teaming experience with LLM-enabled systems
- Experience evaluating or benchmarking LLMs
- Bug bounty platform experience (e.g., Bugcrowd)
- Federal or FedRAMP-style environment experience
- Track record of driving org-wide security strategy or presenting technical findings to senior/executive stakeholders
- Relevant certifications (OSCP, GIAC, CISSP) or AWS certifications
