ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering Management to lead the India-based infrastructure engineering team as part of a globally distributed organization. This role combines technical leadership with people management, overseeing the design, deployment, and operation of fully automated, scalable, and highly available Kubernetes infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing quarterly and annual planning, team objectives, individual goals, deliverables, hiring, development plans, and performance reviews for the India-based engineering team
- Providing technical guidance on Kubernetes platform and tooling; participating in architectural reviews with engineering leads
- Owning availability, reliability, and risk management for production systems at scale
- Incorporating cloud-native engineering best practices, leveraging open-source projects, and delivering in-house software and automation
- Managing and developing the India team while maintaining close collaboration with counterparts in Dublin/EMEA and partners in US and APAC regions
- Collaborating with peer teams on complex, global engineering efforts—building consensus on architecture, coordinating resources, and driving issues and timelines to completion across multiple teams
- Leading effective incident response, distilling root causes and lessons learned, and driving improvements through to completion
The role sits at the intersection of infrastructure automation, team leadership, and global coordination, requiring both hands-on technical depth and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience building production infrastructure and automation, including substantial hands-on experience with Linux, distributed systems, software development, and containerization technology. Experience building and operating Kubernetes is highly desirable.
- 5+ years managing systems and software engineers, with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers and building high-performing teams.
- Fluency with modern cloud infrastructure components including hyperscaler services, Kubernetes, cloud-native networking & load balancing, service mesh, CI/CD & GitOps tooling (Terraform, ArgoCD, Crossplane).
- Prior experience in software development/engineering, release management, DevOps, and managing large-scale server infrastructure in a 24/7 environment.
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving (including AI-powered tools, workflow automation, AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry).
- Ability to lead effective incident response, distill root causes and lessons learned, and drive resulting improvements through to completion.
