Salary: USD 167,000 - 230,000 / annual
Reliable Robotics is building automated aviation systems to enhance safety in air transportation. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes for safety-critical aircraft automation systems. This role bridges design and production, ensuring our systems meet stringent aerospace regulatory, safety, quality, and delivery requirements.
You will oversee installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical/avionics assemblies. Key responsibilities include conducting design-for-excellence (DFx) reviews to optimize cost, producibility, and compliance; collaborating with design, quality, and certification teams to embed manufacturability throughout product development phases (prototype through production); developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and quality management systems aligned with airworthiness directives; and ensuring accurate documentation and maintenance records. You will lead root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, manage tool and parts inventory, and oversee routine and non-routine aircraft installations and maintenance across multiple airframes.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or systems engineering (or 7+ years relevant experience leading aircraft maintenance/modification); 7+ years in aircraft design, manufacturing, inspection, or testing; 2+ years leading complex aerospace, autonomy, or robotics projects; 2+ years with CAD and PLM software (Altium, NX, Teamcenter). Preferred: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate, prototype/R&D or NPI experience, knowledge of AS9100 and 14 CFR regulations, expertise with turbine-powered aircraft systems, P&W PT6A experience, and prior leadership/management background.
The role is split 50% at our San Martin facility and 50% at Mountain View HQ, with 10% travel. You'll join a mission-driven team of aerospace, robotics, and autonomous systems engineers working on safety-enhancing technology that will transform aviation and global transportation.
