Reliable Robotics is building automated aviation systems to enhance safety in air transportation. As a Senior Harness Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of wire harness manufacturing, installation, and supply chain processes to meet design, regulatory, and business requirements including safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
You will own the design of build and installation processes for wire harness assemblies, conduct design-for-excellence (DFx) reviews, and develop the processes and infrastructure needed to scale the business. This role bridges engineering and manufacturing, requiring you to work hands-on in a safety-critical environment that takes automated aviation systems from prototype to production.
Key responsibilities include developing and managing supplier relationships to ensure they meet manufacturing, testing, inspection, quality, performance, and reliability requirements. You will develop DFx processes and conduct reviews to evaluate designs for cost, producibility, inspectability, consistency, and conformance to requirements. You'll develop supplier qualification processes, quality control plans, and inspection infrastructure including functional testing. You will develop and execute technical work instructions for harness fabrication, testing, and vehicle-level installation, read and interpret controlled documentation such as layouts, assembly procedures, schematics, and engineering drawings. Collaboration with quality and engineering teams to identify and resolve non-conformances is essential, as is improving manufacturing capabilities by upgrading equipment, validating new test setups, and documenting processes.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or systems engineering, 7+ years of professional experience fabricating wire harnesses, and 4+ years of hands-on experience reviewing technical designs and working from drawings, schematics, layouts, and controlled documentation. You must be proficient in interpreting electrical schematics and harness drawings, with strong background in IPC-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, or similar wire harness quality standards. Experience in high-reliability manufacturing environments (aerospace, aviation, defense, medical) is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with harness design software (Capital or Zuken), 3D CAD software (Solidworks, NX, or similar), and automated test equipment for continuity, HI-POT, and functional validation. This position requires access to export-controlled information and U.S. person status or appropriate authorization.
